Happy new year!
With 2018 behind us, what better way to blow away the cobwebs and welcome in 2019 than getting out and about in the great outdoors.
If you’re feeling particularly energetic after your NYE festivities, there are two bonus Parkruns taking place on New Year’s Day. At 9am the Great Denham timed 5km starts, with Bedford Park runners getting a bit of lie-in, as their run begins at 10.30am.
Of course, you could do both…
If you’d prefer to appreciate the scenery at walking pace, at 11am you can take part in a leisurely walk around Bedford Park with super-knowledgeable local guide, Martyn Pearson.
The bank holiday guided walk is buggy-friendly, family-friendly, dog-friendly, scooter-friendly and wheelchair friendly – basically just friendly and guaranteed to blow the cobwebs away and reveal all the secrets of the park.
Meet at the Pavilion at 11am. Everyone welcome.
If you’re heading to the River, the Longholme Cafe by the boating lake on Bedford Embankment is open from 10am – 3pm, the perfect place to start or end your walk.
A family of otters has taken up residence in the boating lake, so you might be lucky enough to see them while you’re there. #otterspotter
Slightly further afield, check out the Forest of Marston Vale walks we blogged about last week. With three, five and 10 mile options, there’s something for all abilities – and you’ll definitely have earned an evening with your feet up in front of the Dr Who NYD special….
