It’s National Tree Week this week so we want to shout it from the rooftops…or rather, treetops as trees make life better! For people, for wildlife and for the planet.
They help to cool and clean our air, lock up carbon, reduce flooding, provide sustainable raw materials and are out best hope in combatting the climate crisis. Scientists worldwide are recognising that in order to fight climate change we need to plant way more trees.
Due to the irreversible damage that has already occurred, there are parts of the planet that will never quite be the same, which is why we all have a responsibility to do what we can, for the sake of future generations as well as our older selves.
The Forest of Marston Vale has planted over 2 million trees in this area (the 61 square miles between Bedford and Milton Keynes) which has already made a huge difference but their aim is another 5 million and they need your help. This winter, they are running a ‘Plant One On Us’ campaign to give away free trees to residents of the Forest to help towards our goal.
