After a long hiatus the Bedford Repair Cafe is back to fix your broken bikes, appliances and fabrics.
The Fixers are back on 15th January 2022 to help you repair your household items. Learn how to sew, solder and diagnose problems with a variety of items- clothes, toys, and bikes, at their NEW VENUE, The Place Bedford. Below they outline how to get your fix in.
How does it work?
1. Booking your item is essential. Register one item and leave us as much information as possible- what the item is, and what’s wrong with it. We can only help with one item per person. Please, no large electricals such as microwaves.
2. Please do an LFT test before you arrive, and you must wear a mask inside. Be considerate with how many people you bring, as we may need to limit people inside.
3. Arrive any time between 12 and 3.30pm. The day is ‘drop in’. You may have to wait to be helped, but there are refreshments while you wait. Bring all power adaptors and any sundries you may need to conduct the repair (e.g. new zips etc).
4. Stay with your item, use hand sanitiser and wear your mask. Your Fixer volunteer will show you how to fix your item! There is no guarantee your item will be fixed, and if it will take a long time, we will show you how to finish it at home.
5. Your repair is free. Donations are welcome to help cover our costs, e.g. insurance and room hire. You can pay cash in donation jars on the day to say ‘thank you’ to your Fixer.
