It’s Burns night next Tuesday 25th January, a time where Scots celebrate their National Bard Robert Burns on what would have been his birthday with an evening of food, whisky and poetry. First held in 1801, Burns Night has developed with new traditions and now people all over the world mark it with Haggis and neeps and tatties. We’ve brought together three different events happening in Bedford, something for everyone to enjoy. You can learn more about Burns Night here.
Whisky tasting at The Devonshire Arms

The Devonshire Arms on Dudley Street are putting on their annual Burns Night whisky tasting and supper. Their whisky expert David Baxter will have a selection of 5 of the finest whiskies for you to sample, accompanied by a delicious supper of Haggis, Neeps and tatties.

Three course supper at The Sun

Head to The Sun, Grane Road, Felmersham on Wednesday 26th for an evening of all things Scotland with Bagpipes, a three course dinner with traditional address to the Haggis and a wee dram to go with it. Cullen Skink, Haggis with neeps and tatties and Cranachan are on the menu.

Burns Night Paddle with Canoe Trail

In honour of resident Scot Calum, Canoe Trail at Kempston Outdoor Centre, Hillground Road, have arranged a Burns Night paddle. Join them for an hours canoeing on the water, followed by a bonfire. Entertainments starts with a nice wee dram of whisky (or Iron Bru) and some tasty meat or vegi Haggis, followed by a reading of stories and poems.
