A large and popular park on the Embankment, Russell Park has a large open area surrounded on most sides by trees and a good children’s playground with swings, wooden castle, slides, climbing frames.
There’s a small putting green, ping-pong table and other activities with golf clubs & bats available from the Kiosk in the Park, which also serves a selection of hot & cold drinks, cakes & snacks to take away. The Kiosk in the Park also orgnaises occasional events including a regular story reading for pre-school children and carole singing at Christmas.
Dogs are permitted in the large field but not in the fenced-off children’s area.
During the summer months you might be lucky enough to catch one of the travelling fun fairs, the kite festival, various family fun days with stalls & bouncy castles, live music or other events, and it goes bonkers during the Bedford River Festival which takes place every two years.
