If there’s one thing Bedford loves, it’s a festival. Our bi-annual River Festival attracts over 300,000 visitors throughout the weekend and is the second biggest free event in the UK after the Notting Hill Carnival and there’s plenty of other festivals for your enjoyment throughout the year.

BedPop presents Taste, a dedicated music and food festival – you can enjoy live music, cookery demos whilst being spoilt for choice with the street food.

Bedfringe has been bringing a host of performers to the town, from dance to drama, spoken word to comedy. Many household names of comedy cut their teeth at Bedfringe. It’s always worth taking a punt on a show; you never know – they might be the next big thing!

Each June, Russell Park welcomes the annual Bedford Kite Festival. Attracting enthusiasts from around the world, the kites on display are a spectacle to behold. The Kite Festival is a great day out for all the family, with stalls, rides, food and drink.

Bromham Apple Day takes place at Bromham Mill each October and is a celebration of the beautiful autumnal Bedfordshire countryside.  Local produce, cider and perry is all on offer, plus there are animal displays, Morris Dancing and art exhibitions. Apple experts are always on hand, so if you have an apple tree in your garden and are unsure of the variety, bring along a sample and they’ll identify it for you.
